Steel Mill Services Company Purchase of Specialty Equipment

A private equity client was expanding operations in steel mill slag processing and metals recovery. They operate a large fleet of Kress specialty slag pot haul trucks and were seeking to add 12 additional trucks quickly. Rider Opportunity Group partners did a global search and learned that copper smelters in North America were mothballing operations due to high production costs. Transactions were completed with 4 different copper operations resulting in the purchase of 12 trucks along with an inventory of new spare parts for the fleet. These purchases were made at 10-15% of the new replacement cost of this equipment.
